Trace McCreary formed Varden Capital Properties (VCP) in late 2011. He has been responsible for the acquisition of approximately 18,000 apartment units in the Southeast since the beginning of 2012 and the sale of more than 10,000 units. Trace has overseen all aspects of the apartment investing business, including acquisitions, financing, operations, renovations, divestiture and investor relations and has earned one of the strongest investor return track records of any manager in the Southeast during his tenure.
Prior to forming VCP in 2011, Trace had a nearly 20-year career on Wall Street as an investment banker doing mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance as a partner at top firms such as Salomon Brothers/Citigroup, Credit Suisse First Boston and Barclays Capital and was most recently Managing Director and Head of US Infrastructure Finance for Barclays Financial. Trace has been a Senior Managing Director in the Global Industries Group at Bear Stearns where he oversaw Infrastructure coverage. Previously, he was a Managing Director in Leveraged Finance Origination for Industrials at Credit Suisse, where he also covered infrastructure investors. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director in the Industrials Group at Citigroup. Prior to being an investment banker, Trace was a corporate lawyer at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York.
He graduated with a B.A. Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Carleton College in Minnesota in 1989 and with a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1992.
John brings 25+ years of experience in the Multi-Family housing industry. His extensive background spans through all disciplines of property management including new construction, rehabilitations, tax credit, A+ communities, lease-ups, student housing and more.
Prior to joining VCP, John's career started in 1988 at an entry level position in a property management company. Over the course of the next 28 years, John worked through the ranks of employment from Maintenance Technician to Vice President and has held and excelled at every position in the industry.
John entered his first executive level position in 1994 and was challenged to increase market share thus creating new opportunities and positions that never existed before in the company. This gave John the unique skill set of building and rebuilding management firms with the experience of a top executive and the understanding of all positions in the business. Danah is the energetic, creative and resourceful Paralegal and Marketing Director for the entire Varden Capital Properties portfolio currently totaling over 30 properties and more than 5,000 units. She is responsible for the processing of all legal Acquisition and Disposition transactions and documents including Operating Agreements, Company Resolutions, Management Agreements, Incorporation and Organization documents, and Legal Entity set-up and management. She also handles the real estate closings of all property acquisitions and dispositions. Danah is also responsible for the branding and marketing for all properties including total re-brand for properties that are in distress and in need of a complete makeover; creative design for property websites, brochures, marketing materials, and signage; uniform and name tag/ID badge design and production for all office and maintenance personnel; online reputation, ratings, image and brand assessment and clean-up; facilitates the training program for all employees; handling of property set-up through RentCafe/Yardi and overseeing the online payment and resident services portal. Her strong organizational abilities combined with excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills allow Danah to work effectively and efficiently with all people at all levels.
Prior to joining VCP in 2013, Danah began her career as a Retail Sales Associate and Client Specialist for Ralph Lauren. After 4 years, she decided to pursue her passion for Real Estate, Construction and Property Management and joined SunRidge Construction in 2005. There she was responsible for managing and coordinating bank draws, permits, CO's, legal documents, site plans, and management of single-family homes. After 3 years with SunRidge, she joined Miller Realty Group and Cone Middour Partners as their Acquisitions and Commercial Real Estate Coordinator. She excelled at overseeing commercial lease agreements, RFP's, LOI's, tenant/client databases and management of retail, flex and office space.
Danah holds a Bachelor of International Business degree from Illinois State University.
